Jennifer Buchholz, VMD

Dr. Jennifer Buchholz completed her veterinary education at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated as Valedictorian of her class, having earned multiple academic and clinical achievement awards.  Additional specialty training in equine sports medicine and surgery was obtained at the New Jersey Equine Clinic in Clarksburg, New Jersey, prior to joining the practice in the summer of 2001.

She pursued her undergraduate degree at the University of New Hampshire, after which she moved to Boston to develop a career in biotechnology. Having spent eight years in New England, Dr. Buchholz decided to pursue a career change, relocating as a research assistant at New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  There she studied the training practices of Thoroughbred racehorses as they related to the development of orthopedic disease.

Dr. Buchholz has a keen interest in ophthalmology and has completed many hours of continuing education to support this passion.  She also enjoys work in mare and foal management, reproduction, and sport horse performance.  Geriatric medicine and care of the companion horse are also among her favorite pursuits.

DrJenDevon1Dr. Buchholz is a native of the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York.  She currently resides in the Hatfield area of Southeastern Pennsylvania with her husband, Kurt, son and daughter, Benjamin and Violet, two Labradors, and various other critters.  Outside the realm of all things animal related, Dr. Buchholz enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming and camping.  She is passionate in supporting the activities of her two young children, which means being a fan at many a baseball game, softball game, soccer game, triathlons, gymnastic meets and horse shows.
